A round-up of 2020

4 December 2020

This has been the weirdest year for everyone in the entire world! I’m trying to end the year on a positive note and make some progress with the novel I started drafting in November. I have set myself three goals for the month:-

1. Finish the first draft.

2. Launch this website which I have been working on for too long!

3. Start the first round of edits.

Day 28: #nanowinner2020

What a day!! I’m not sure I actually believed I could write 50,000 words in a year, yet alone a month, but here we are. I’m exhausted and the story’s not finished, but I think I might need a couple of days off??? Thanks to everyone who’s been supporting me. Watch this space for further updates.

Day 15 – It’s Official! I’m halfway there??

life of a writer, Nanowrimo2020 25,000 words

14 November 2020

Day 14 – my brain is exhausted today! Got about 1,000 words done, but then had to admit defeat. I’m still on track though, so it’s not all bad!?

11 November 2020

Day 11: The most words written in a day to this point. It would be fantastic to get far enough ahead to get a day off?

9 November 2020

Day 9: Not much time today after dropping and collecting children who had a day off school into school? So very pleased with the day’s efforts. Have reached 15k!!

8 November 2020

Day 8: Raced through most of the word count this morning and looked forward to a quick burst this afternoon. No such luck! This afternoon has been like wading through treacle. Right, time to slump in a chair?

Nanowrimo2020 13,573 words

6 November 2020

Day 6: Despite some very irritating tech issues which I won’t bore you with, I’m still doing well on the word count! One fifth down 40,000 words to go?

3 November 2020

Day 3: 4,656 words
I’m still behind target but I think I’m doing ok

1 November 2020

Day 1 of #nanowrimo2020
We have words people!! Whoop whoop (not quite the daily word target but it’s Sunday so I’ll have to catch up tomorrow)

28 October 2020

Last couple of days have been interesting! Finally, today I feel like I’m getting somewhere. I’ve chosen my concept, got a basic outline and an idea of characters. Now to focus on the fine details. More planning time would definitely have been better, but I’m definitely feeling more optimistic today.

26 October 2020

Quick update on the planning. I started with no firm ideas for the #nanowrimo2020 challenge. But now I have had a focused brainstorm I have too many ideas and don’t know which to start with! I think I will have to make a choice tomorrow and stick to it.

23 October 2020

Right, so I need to do 6 weeks’ worth of planning in 1 week! Wish me luck ✒️✒️✒️️.

22 October 2020

I have always been a book nerd since I was a little girl and dreamed of writing a book one day. The last few years have been difficult to say the least, so I have decided to stop dreaming about it and get on and write! I have signed up for NaNoWriMo and will write a 50,000 word rough draft in November. I would love you to share the highs and lows of this experience, and who knows there might be a book at the end of it! Watch this space…

'Don't stop Dreaming, Remember if you can dream it you can do it.' A starry night sky.
